The most common form of Durga worshipped has 8 or 10 arms, but some communities worship the form of Durga that has 12, 14, 16, 18, or 20 arms. The eight-armed form of the goddess Durga is believed to be the destroyer of evil forces. On the other hand, the 10-handed form of goddess Durga is believed to be Mahishasura Mardini, which means she ended the terror of the buffalo demon Mahishasura. whereas some other forms of maa durga, like Bhuvaneshvari or Matangi, are shown as having 12 or 14 arms. However, the number of hands doesn't matter because if there are 2 hands or 20, the main work of these hands is to kill demons and give blessings to devotees.
